Recently, members of the Rotary/Copperhead Disaster Relief Chainsaw Team were involved with a massive effort to help reclaim some semblance of hope during what some described as the worst days of their lives. The deadly EF-4 tornado touched down in Pembroke, Georgia on April 5th this year. The weather service in Charleston, South Carolina reported winds were recorded at 185 MPH. As our team established “boots on the ground” it was reported that the path was as much as ¾ of a mile wide at some points, with 12 miles of destruction. This horrific event will certainly never be forgotten by the residents of Bryan County.
The Copperhead Chain Saw Team worked alongside teams from Alpharetta, Georgia and God’s Pit Crew from Danville, Virginia. There were so many teams giving aid that our group was a small part of a massive effort to serve humanity at their most vulnerable and difficult time of need.
